The Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) recently announced the list of distinguished members (educators, engineers, scientists) in 2018. Prof. Chang Yi, the Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence (SAI)of Jilin University, was elected as ACM distinguished scientist. He is the only scholar in mainland universities who won this honor this year.
It is reported that 49 researchers were elected worldwide in 2018. They are from the United States, China, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, Singapore and Sweden, and all of them are from top universities, enterprises and research institutions. The candidates’ research fields include Algorithms, AI, Computer Architecture, Computer Science Education, Network Security, Graphics and Human-Computer Interaction. Cherri M. Pancake, the President of ACM, said that ACM members who have made technical contributions in Computer Engineering, Education and Science are all included in the election.
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), founded in 1947, is the most influential and professional academic organization on Computer in the world. Meanwhile, it is the first Scientific and Educational Computer Society in the world and its headquarter locates in New York, USA. Currently, there are more than 1 million members from more than 130 countries and regions all over the world. The A. M. Turing Award honored by ACM is recognized as the Nobel Prize in the field of Computer Science.
